Card for the Week of April 14, 2019

From the Margaret Peterson Tarot

From the Margaret Peterson Tarot

It’s a funny time. The below is an entry from and by Astro.Com. Their insights are beautiful and interesting. I’m always curious to witness how they unfold for me. The Five of Pentacles suggests a possible time of adversity, but I also see it as a time of tension and questioning…in the area of the Pentacles. So, what are you doing to take care of yourself? Where are you fed? What do you need to let go of? What do you need to release…and what do you need to RECEIVE. Take this time to truthfully evaluate. Be careful to not be distracted by someone else’s story…or OLD stories that you have latched onto (it’s easy to latch onto old stories). Be curious! Adventuresome. Replace fear with curiosity. Nurture your seed.

Card for the Week of April 1, 2019

From the instability of heavy sludge to the wiggly mini fires of April…

It is time to create. Craft. Keep to your “art”—Your art of life…which IS your life.

From the LineStrider Tarot and the Lavish Earth Oracle

From the LineStrider Tarot and the Lavish Earth Oracle

In the weeks ahead (and really all of 2019), it will be important to “ride the wave” by creating your art—which is YOUR art in your dance in life. Be true to you.

The word “art” is curious—and I ask you to consider it. Please take a moment to create your own definitions—and write them down. From there, meditate a bit on how that art reveals itself.

Bask in that Light.
Make Magic.

Card for the Week of March 24, 2019

This coming week, it will be important to ground yourself: pamper and care for yourself. Remember, that you can make no bounty unless you are replenished.

The times are wild. We crave some sort of expected outcome; some sort of promise. But in the midst of change and chaos, there is one thing we can do to protect and serve ourselves and others: ground, nourish and wallow in those things you love. Weave in your meaning: don’t forget who you REALLY are. Amidst so much distraction, competition and speed, there is….the truth, the calm , the whole.

Dig deep into your magic. Behold the bounty of yourself (and be sure NOT to compare with others…you are your own unique). Recall simplicity. There is so much bounty in simplicity.

THERE IS SO MUCH BOUNTY IN SIMPLICITY.

Enjoy…Honor thy self.

Herbs: Nettles, Chamomile
Gems: Aventurine, Aquamarine, Snowflake Obsidian
Hint: Self Love.

Card for the Week • March 10, 2019

Screen Shot 2019-03-07 at 4.33.37 PM.png

This Page of Cups is a comprehensive from the original Moonchild Tarot by Danielle and Sterling. I came to this pull based on March astrology: we need a little Page of Cups right now.

The beginning of March has some powerful planets ingressing into signs where they fumble and push and tug. We’ve moved from the qualities of Air and Fire to those of Earth and Water: so, most of us have been feeling a little heavy. With Mercury in Pisces conjunct Neptune, some of us may have felt foggy.

Heavy + Foggy = slow and possibly vague.
So we need our Page of Cups!

The Page of Cups offers us tender heart, love and curious hope. In the week ahead, carry her with you: print out the picture and hang it where you’ll see it. Our Page is youthful and strong and asks us to tap into our inner child or deepest true soul for new answers and insights. This will fall out well as the weeks progress and swim into Aprils more light and colorful ways (above and below). Youthful wisdom can be so pure and direct that it may more fully support our dreams and visions.

So…hold tight…keep going.
Lighter spirit and Clarity Awaits…

Herbs: Nettles, Valerian, Queen Anne’s Lace, Sweet Annie

The Hanged Man | Bonifacio Bembo for Visconti-Sforza Family | Medieval Tarot Cards | ca. 1450 | card no. 11 | The Morgan Library & Museum

So much fog. So much weight. We move through the heaviest of waters sometimes: it seems as if we’ll never emerge; never breathe freely, thrive and aspire. But, oh yes…we will. The Hanged one is the all knowing…gathering and learning from all perspectives, but understanding RIGHT TIMING. Everything has right timing: every seed spouted, every bird to flight, every bee to blossom: everything. So I wonder: what is it that you are rushing? Where are you pushing or restless? The Hanged one would ask you to enjoy the suspension: relish a new view…get curious and ponder. Your time to turn upwards toward the sun will come. Patience. Temperance.

In the coming week, reflect upon that which as come before in the month of February….or even the last week of that month…or the beginning of the calendar year. Take a pause and a “60,000-mile view.” (in that I mean, please try to view with less emotion and judgement, and with a sense of loving detachment—objectivity as you can). Have faith. Consider the patterns of thought … and challenge with an open, loving mind. Curiosity is so often the benevolent cure.

Good luck! Relax and enjoy. No need to take action. It will emerge.

Crystals: Chrysoprase, Aquamarine, and maybe Merlinite (a personal thing)
Herbs: Tulsi, Angelica, Dream Herb

Lenormand #35

Lenormand #35

This week, be curious about your foundation, your root, your security, your source. And, at the same time, be careful to recognize your ruts, your stuck parts, your illusory boundaries. There is a dialogue here: where am I safe? Where am I stuck.

Traditional general meaning of the Anchor:
•  What is your current focus?
•  What gives you stability and strength?
•  What is your aim?
Be curious and open about these questions. Stay inflexible. Even if you feel confident, be willing to let go.
(p.s., the anchor may also symbolize solid relationship…with person, career, passion, etc…)

Jessica Z’ Story Medicine Deck

Jessica Z’ Story Medicine Deck

In Jessica’s deck of spiritual growth, story telling and women’s tales, cards of the minor arcana are correlated with the major: in this case, the Moon.

Fly through the depths of your pain and knowing. In fact, soar. SOAR.

Soar into the depths of all you trend lightly around—all that you fear. Sing it. SING IT.

and soar.

This day of February marks Mercury’s journey into Pisces. Here, he’ll travel and turn and spin for quite a while—with Neptune. This may be a murky time, but more powerfully, it’s a wonderful time to invite relationship with your intuition and your truth. Your psychic and dreamy abilities may be heightened: a good thing.

Enjoy the view from this enlightening place.

Gems: Picasso Jasper, Obsidian, Quartz
Herbs: Sage (cleanse), Lavender (relax), Chamomile (release), Rosemary (purification & protection), Self-heal (heal) and Lemongrass (uplift)

"Ambient Confusion"

I was listening to a podcast by Chris Brennan (you can find him on Patreon). He was with Kelly Surtees and Austin Coppock discussing the astrology forecast for February (which I’ll summarize on AstroLuminosity (home page offering) over the next week. Austin is a word wizard in so many ways. He’s mentioned that 2019 is the year of “creativity out of chaos…" and this morning, he referred to “Ambient Confusion.”

What cards might we need to keep close by and tap into if we are in a time of Ambient Confusion?

The Strength Card from The Moonchild Tarot

The Strength Card from The Moonchild Tarot

The Strength card came to me right away: also Justice and the Star.

STRENGTH: “A young woman sits calmly with a majestic lion…Here, she is unaffected by its presence for in her grace and strength she has nurtured a safe relationship…Both demonstrate a strong sense of mastery and peace…attuning to a higher frequency of awareness.

JUSTICE: “Justice, Truth and Universal balance…She oversees the labyrinth, with her luminous scales and sword…encouraging us to learn from the greater spiral of life.”

STAR: “…Orienting herself from a new heartfelt perspective…she raises a sacred cup distilling the teachings of the cosmos into her hands. From this place, she consecrates her spirit, transmuting from this divine source of flowing inspiration.”

Thank you Danielle Noel for such a beautiful deck: it’s inspired so many who come to the shop: one of my most favorite decks (and I have so many!).

Card or the Week of January 20

IMG_0564.jpg

I choose my own: This is because of the Blood Moon, Total Lunar Eclipse on Sunday and the Full Moon in Leo on Monday morning. (p.s., I think the best time to see this Blood Moon will begin at 9:36 pm, peak at 12:12am.)

This Lunar Eclipse may be honored and embraced as the culmination of efforts and intentions of the last 6-9 months. Take some time to review what has evolved in that time. I ask: have you been true to yourself? Following your path and goals? The last Solar Eclipse sparked a start: an introduction to the new waves and flows of the 2019 year. This year has been given a tag: “Creativity out of Chaos.” With this, we may find that we soar and sink and soar again. The key is to keep an eye on the top of the wave.

The cards that come to mind are Temperance and Strength. These, I will keep as my guides. Totems for my alter. Comfort in my travels. The Queen of Cups and the 6 of Disks are gifts to you as you move through the week (and the year): A blessing to show up with your heart in truth and work with kindness as your cloak.

Creativity from the Chaos.

I offer you Strength as your Tarot card of focus for the beginning of 2019. I also think of Temperance and the Star. The Star luminary is the creative spark, the Moon, the reflection and the Sun, the revealing or manifestation.

Here, we find our power to create in our own way (particular to self) to move toward the light…and ground…simultaneously.

It’s as if the phoenix rises from the ashes. WE RISE.

Delve into luscious ritual. Find your wand. Walk in the woods. Paint! Dance! Sing…out loud and from the heart. This is your year.

In this week, we continue to find our way through the early eclipses of 2019. They are the “big bang” of this new year…and will sow a seed for the rhythm of the year. So nurture. Nourish. Cherish. You are the light—your own guiding light. Tap into it. Honor it. Tend that little light that glows.

Blessings

Card for the Week of January 6, 2019

From the Moon Deck by Aarona Ganesan and Andrea Keh

From the Moon Deck by Aarona Ganesan and Andrea Keh

The New Moon was in Capricorn. Saturn is a big guy right now. Astrologically, 2019 seems to be a year of creative opportunity.

My earlier pull on our behalf was “Mystery Revealed” from the Frequency Tarot Divine-Guidance Cards by Teal Swan. The description guides you in a ritual —the idea is to embrace that which is hidden…like a hidden gem. The ritual is one of subtle action, quiet energy expended.

I allow stillness to heal and reveal.

Card No. 18 from the Moon Deck is entitled HEAL. The ritual suggested (listed below) is Moon Bath. The message is…

One cannot create in truth until one is healed.

First things first! Both cards suggest that in quiet stillness, we find truth and guidance. The Oracle: the healed one manifests. The sick must repair. The year provides opportunity with awareness. Take care of yourself, design your own calendar, commit to self, manifest.

Gems: Gold, Jade, Lapis Lazuli, Carnelian
Herbs: Tulsi, Schizandra, Your (own) Plant Ally
Archetypes: Those subtle and strong. Avoid Artemis—and burn out…right now. Brigid, Freya, Pachamama, Mazu
Tarot for Alter: Strength
Moon Bath Ritual: Whenever you feel disconnected from Spirit, foreign in your own body, confused, imbalanced, overwhelmed, disheartened, or anything that doesn’t feel true to your essence—it’s time to soak in some solo time under the moonlight…
1. Go outside and bask in the magic of the moonlight
2. Absorb the luminous and healing light…deep into your cells
3. Speak your prayers and intentions (make offerings if appropriate)
4. Allow time to reveal, heal and recharge
5. Rest well.
(The above adapted from the Moon Deck Guidebook.)

December 23 - January 6 2018

Tarot of the Holy Light

Tarot of the Holy Light

The Devil Card shows up today (the The Full Moon in Cancer) and may carry us through the holidays, into a New Moon Eclipse in Capricorn in January. I find this “perfect.” If you read below and get a glimpse of how these Moons might treat you, you’ll see why this card is so appropriate for right now. The Devil card theme: The two people are apparently controlled by this outside power or force. It seems they are unable to make decisions clearly for their own wellbeing. But, in fact, they are not bonded, bound or controlled by the exterior force: that is an illusion. Over the next few weeks, be mindful of this concept as you flow through the Moons.

Take care of yourself, be patient. Nurture. Mind your choices.

The full moon December 22, 2018, falls at 0º Cancer 2018. The full moon December 2018 astrology is extremely powerful and fortunate. Those touched by this full Moon will do well in any role where they play parent or carer at this festive time. Indeed the nurturing energy is so strong at this time that it could feed an army. The great thing about this position is that the Moon will never exceed what it is willing to give. At this time we learn very quickly that we are no good to anyone if we burn themselves out. This also means that there is none of the martyr syndrome resentment vibe that happens sometimes with overly lunar energy.

This position is very fertile, it has the feel of that spongy turf that grows around a lake and the water lilies that sit upon it. We are drawn to healing mud that this full Moon December has in abundance. The ambience at this full Moon is gentile and compromising. Those touched by this full Moon will want to treat their loved ones like royalty. It’s a great period to do things that pamper yourself or indulge in home-made treats. Yay Christmas!”—From DarkAstrology.com

The New Moon in Capricorn on January 6th may leave you wondering about your self worth, and questioning how much those around you truly love you. It may also bring up thoughts around your more broad value to a community or society at large. In this, you may step back and avoid collective situations or obligations. This is a time to take care and nourish yourself (don’t self-sabotage). Be mindful to NOT seek approval from the outside. You have to trust your inner values.

T A R O T : A N U N F O L D I N G

This coming week…I offer a seven day ponder, journal prompt or thought to consider…

“You are unfolding. Like the petals of a flower: opening.”

Working prompts like these (below) can provide a beautiful and lasting outcome.

This coming week…I offer a seven day ponder, journal prompt or thought to consider…

Monday: The Hanged Man—Ask yourself, “Where in my life might I curiously embrace a new perspective?”
Tuesday: Death—Ask yourself, “What is it in my life that I might let go of in order to make space for something more wonderful?”
Wednesday: The Star—Ask yourself, “What is it that brings me hope, joy and a sense of good faith?” Practice or welcome these things. Activate.
Thursday: The Moon—This evening, capture your dream(s). Write them down. Contemplate.
Friday: The Sun—Today, think of someone you are proud of. Give them a call, write a letter or send a sweet mail.
Saturday: Judgement—Close your eyes, breathe…and imagine what inner calling or adventure needs birth and growth. Write what comes…
Sunday: The World—Think of something that you’d wish to manifest (a seed planted, a tree grown). Draw a circle of circles. In each little circle, sketch a word or image to represent phases. Pass your finger over each circle in a clockwise motion three times. Smile. Imagine. Intention. Best of luck.

With love,
Serena

CHANGE • TRANSITION

In many cultures, death is simply a known part of journey…
We are not natural with the concept of death…It’s scary, frightening and to be avoided. When the Death card comes up, most everyone says “oh!” or “yikes” or “uh oh”—a natural reaction which misses another, more empowering and relative meaning. Just look how beautiful this card (from the MoonChild Deck) is…and how she thrives in the evolution and transition.

Death is beautiful, natural and unavoidable. Without death, there is no growth and renewal. On the simplest terms, we create death when we make any choice: at that moment, we kiss the other option (the un-chosen one) away—and end it’s possibility. Sometimes, we overlook the opportunity to mourn—as we hurry forward.

In the coming week, I invite you to consider the many ways that death is with us often. How things come and go all of the time. And in some cases, death (or the passing and removal of something) creates space for something new, bright and vibrant (or at least, new). We think of death as crushing loss—and it often is. These are the hard and heavy ones…that we often end up experiencing somewhat alone for fear of admitting “weakness” (which is mistaken weakness). But what beauty can you find in the concept of death? This is your challenge over the coming days. Enjoy the ride.

With love,
Serena

Friendship and the Dreamer

Look for folks who support you in your dreams and in your wellbeing. Be careful who you spend time with. Focus on what is true to you.

Share With People Who Support You: This is key for this week. Make a point of connecting with or making plans with those who are “in friendship” with you…those who are in positive relationship with you. Avoid those who challenge, defeat, dishearten or weaken body, mind or soul.

Mind Who You Spend Time With: These are the people who color your world. It also includes the content of the books you read, programs you watch or podcasts you listen to. Be mindful of what you choose. These things affect, project, shape, and alter attitudes, moods and dispositions.

Focus on What is True to YOU: Sometimes, in childhood, we have crystal clarity. This might be a good time to think back on what you once knew to be true. Over time, we can become clouded by the opinions of others, the voices of many, and the general outside “noise.” But our truth is ours—if we choose to dig deep enough to find and embrace it. Be your best friend and acknowledge your deepest and truest soul self (and desires).

Follow your dreams.

Enjoy…
